New Urusei Yatsura Special Eyes Special Exhibition in Japan, December 23rd
By Keiichi Morisato
Apparently, the long-delayed new Urusei Yatsura special will see a special exhibition later this month in Japan. Check out the fresh details from the Anime News Network.
2009′s combined issue #2/3 of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has confirmed on Wednesday that the long-delayed new Urusei Yatsura anime special will premiere at the “It’s a Rumic World” exhibition on December 23 in Sendai, Japan. This will be the first anime spinoff from Rumiko Takahashi’s 1978-1987 slapstick comedy manga in 17 years, and it will be exclusively shown at this traveling display of Takahashi’s artwork. The exhibition began this past summer in Tokyo with brand-new Inuyasha and Ranma ½ anime specials, but the Urusei Yatsura special was not finished in time.
Voice actress Fumi Hirano reprises her role as Lum, an alien princess who came to invade Earth, but ends up “marrying” a lecherous Japanese boy in a comedy of errors. Hirano played the same role in 195 television episodes, one television special, six theatrical films, and 11 animated videos from 1981 to 1991. Hirano and Toshio Furukawa (Lum’s accidental mate Ataru) also voiced their roles in a separate opening animation clip for the ongoing exhibition; that crossover clip included the main characters from Urusei Yatsura, Ranma ½, and Inuyasha.
Love Hina: The Complete Series, Available for Pre-Order

For those of you interested in this, Funimation Entertainment has just announced that they will release the first 24 episodes of the hit series by manga creator Ken Akamatsu (Negima!, Negima!?!). This boxed set will contain the entire series in a four disk boxed set and will be released on Novemver 24th, 2009. While no further information is known about the Christmas Movie, the Spring Movie or Love Hina Again, one can only hope that these special releases will also be released sometime in the near future.
For those interested about the status of the 25th episode, this was a special episode that was included as a bonus on the Christmas Movie DVD release from Bandai Entertainment. One can only assume that this will be included either in the DVD release for the Christmas Movie or included as a bonus feature in a boxed set featuring the two movies and the OVA episodes. Just stay tuned to our blog and we’ll try to bring you the information as it develops.
No information regarding the English dub is available at this current time. It’s hopeful that Funimation Entertainment may be using the same English dub, although this is not verified at this time.
Love Hina: The Complete Series is available for Pre-Order for $34.99 at Right Stuf.com
DVD Review: Riding Bean OVA
By Keiichi Morisato
Recently, I made the decision that it was time to start writing reviews of some of the anime that has been previously released on DVD in an effort to suggest some of the better anime that is out there. Our first review comes by way of AnimEigo and highlights the Region 1 DVD release of the Riding Bean OVA. One of the first anime titles that was released by the company, it also represents a very fun anime to watch and isn’t burdened down with too much exposition.

With the new version of IPB (Invision Power Board) coming out early in 2009, we’re hoping to start testing the beta version soon enough. We’ll be selecting a small number of Members to test out the new version and to comment on the new version. We’ll also be giving our Moderators full access to the beta version so that they can get a feel for the new version and to become comfortable with the new features.
