This also refers to creating usernames that are offensive and libelous toward the site and the forums. Oh, and we forward all such attempts to subvert this site to that user’s ISP.
Before anyone starts asking questions, let me assure you that the “Register” link that appears beneath the “account registration” menu is just for an account to the WordPress section of the site. This will allow members to post comments, submit news items and will also allow me to grant access to those who wish to become regular contributors to this portion of the site. I just neglected to place a “register” link in the site navigation.

This PVC is just another item celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Ah! My Goddess anime and manga series.
I felt that it was about time I address this personally.
Funimation is a great company with some great titles but they’re starting to act like Microsoft by trying to monopolize a certain market. Recently, it was announced that the Anime Network would no longer be offered from Comcast and that the cable giant would be replacing The Anime Network with anime titles offered by Funimation through their catalog of licensed anime.
This is bad news for the anime industry in North America. With very few anime companies licensing and distributing anime in the United States, they are effectively eliminating various anime distributors with only Bandai Entertainment, USA, being the final major licensor of anime. Bandai Entertainment, USA, is associated with Bandai Visual, Japan and operates and distributes anime in North America.
While we applaud Funimation for their efforts in expanding the number of anime titles available for anime fans in the United States, we cannot support a monopoly of the industry where anime prices can be controlled by one company. They currently control a majority of anime in the United States as well as replacing an anime network that previously enjoyed a decent life on a cable network.
We’d like to hear what everyone thinks about our decision to use WordPress as the defacto homepage for posting news about the site. The main site content, however, will remain the same. However, we’re working on altering the structure so that everything flows smoothly. You can either post on the forums or post a comment here.
While most of the reporting that we do here is basically on North American anime licenses and releases, for those of you who are in the United Kingdom, if you’re not aware of it, there is a fan-based anime website that reports on anime releases and licenses for distribution in Europe. Just point your web browser to Anime News U.K. Decent website that deserves a look.
While I haven’t heard any feedback except from one member who didn’t like the idea of WordPress being used as the homepage of the site, I’d like to reassure everyone that WordPress isn’t being used to replace the CMS software suites we currently use for the site. I think there’s been some confusion on this issue and I’d like to clear that up. The site content and the CMS software that is running the content portion of our site won’t change. I just wanted to be able to use WordPress to cover more information that wouldn’t other be covered with the old layout.
While it’s true that I hadn’t considered this, WordPress allows me the ability to expand the site by offering reviews of anime shows that are currently being fansubbed (we’ll be reviewing these shows but not providing links to the downloads) as well as reporting on Anime Conventions and CosPlay events. The powerful software also grants me the opportunity to also cover a larger range of news that’s currently appearing among the anime and manga online community and I hope that everyone continues to support the site.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please either post a comment to this news item or contact me through the forums. We’ll provide those volunteers with access to post any information they care to post, as it pertains to our goals.
Recently, news has been coming forth about a newly produced anime episode from the hit series, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. This new episode, “Sasa no Ha Rhapsody” (“Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody”), was the first episode that did not air during the original 2006 run. Kadokawa has been streaming each episode in Japanese one week after its broadcast since last month.

While we spend a lot of time plugging our site and the many resources you can find here, I would be amiss if I didn’t plu one of the best and possibly one of the largest J-Pop communities online.
JPop Asia is one of the better sites and they feature everything from message boards to JPop music videos. It really deserves a second glance. So, when you get a chance, check them out.
