  1. Fall anime 2017: Two car

Have just seen the first episode of this new anime 'Two car' Summary of the anime....let's just say that it is the kind of anime that Fujishima-sensei would have written. It's got...motorcycle racing, in two seater motorcycles , and lots of beautiful ladies....except that the ladies are the racers...and the racing is really really serious business. More info here: And it is streaming on Crunchyroll! for those who live in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Netherlands, Latin America, and Scandinavia.
  2. Well, it looks like Sentai Filmworks is finally getting out of the DVD business and plans on focusing solely on Blu-ray releases. The trade-in program is great for those who are looking to upgrade to the Blu-ray format and you can even get a free Blu-ray player out of the deal.
  3. Funimation has announced a limited run of ..."In this corner of the world" on August 11. I have heard about this sometime ago. It is a crowd funded production and looks to be another fine film. Official website... We have been very lucky this year in that several major anime movies (not counting the live action "ghost in the shell") have been released in mainstream theaters. I actually know of neighbors who asked me about "Your name". Can only be a good thing to expose more to this genre. Unfortunately, at this time, there are no planned showings in my area. Hopefully more theaters will be added as we get closer. But until then, I am planning to go see "The Ancient Magus’ Bride" this week. Between theatrical releases and the release of "Gosick" and "Hyouka" I am one happy camper.
  4. Title of anime: Demi-chan wa Kataritai (Interviews with Monster girls) What is it about: Exactly what it says on the tin! (and no, it is not a harem anime, by the way). Testuo Takahashi is a biology teacher at your typical Japansese high school. He wants to do research into demi-humans...who have begun to get accepted more into human society. Problem is...he cannot find any who is willing to be the subject of research (and it is difficult to find them, as most of them look normal)...until he finds three new demi-humans in his school! Takanashi Hikari, a rather manic-pixie dream girl type vampire( who drinks blood, but only from bloodpacks, and has a twin sister who is ''normal). Machi Kyouko, a dullahan (her head is not attached to her body; she carries it around.American readers will recall the Legend of Ichabod Crane...which featured a dullahan). Kusakabe Yuki, a rather introverted snowwoman(yukionna). And a new teacher has joined the staff, Sato Sakie, a succubus (who , because she can induce erotic dreams in others by just sleeping in their vicinity has to live far from human contact as possible). Thus, the anime...which is beasically adventures in research....involving monster girls....or demis. Is the anime good? Definetly! What I like about the anime is the way it explores the demi-humans, and how their abilities, or disabilities, or quirks affects them and the world around them. Most of the time it is done in a fun and respectable way...with little in the way of ecchi (Sorry Monster Musume fans!). Another lovely thing about the anime is the fact that the demis...the students naturally, can come to Mr Takahashi with any of their problems , and talk to him about it. There is a scene in the anime where Takahashi-sensei comes across Yuki-chan crying because she overheard two girls saying nasty things about her. He just doesnot say anything...just gives her a hug...and that is the catalyst for Yuki to start talking about her problems more fully. Also thumbs up for the friendship between the three student demis too!...and the lovely sister bonds between Hikari and her sister Himari (despite the fact that they do fight). All in all, a great anime..and one of the best for this Winter 2017. You must watch it. Funimation is dubbing it into English by the way.
  5. News Contributors

I'm looking to add some special privileges for those registered members who are looking to become contributors to the site who are willing to post news items to the main news portal of the site. They would be encouraged to post information about news regarding anime shows acquired for online streaming, such as those reported by Crunchyroll, Anime News Network, Funimation and the like. They would also be reporting on information pertaining to manga news, otaku and whatever other news is out there such as casting reports for anime and/or anime films, If it involves anime production or manga news, it would be posted via the news portal. I'm simply looking to expand the news that's posted on the news portal. This will allow me to concentrate on other things in relation to the management of the site, since there is still a lot of work that I need to accomplish. Keep in mind that such news postings about anime and manga news would need to have verified sources before they are posted, whether its reported through official channels, such as the anime production studio/distributor, the manga publisher or if it's heard on a message forum (then it would be published as unverified news, speculation or rumored). If you're interested, just reply to this topic. Contributors would not have forum staff privileges but would be given access to post news bytes via the site, something which I'm the only one with access to.
  6. Super stoked for this one!!!

  8. It's been hitting all over but the news has been covered by ICv2, as well as the mainstream media, that Hayao Miyazaki, the co-founder of Studio Ghibli, will be retiring soon. His final film, The Wind Rises, is said to be his final film and that he'll be making a formal announcement at a press conference in Tokyo next week. The news of Miyazaki-san's retirement was announce at the Venice Film Festival by Studio Ghibli President Koju Hoshino. The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachina) has been submitted to the Venice Film Festival. We're just honored that Miyazaki-san created so many great manga stories and produced many of his works into anime films. The last time he seriously talked about retirement was after Princess Mononoke (1997) but he later went on to make the Oscar-award winning film, Spirited Away, in 2001. Source:
  9. anime running out of new ideas?

Hate to say it, but I think they are. When you look at such anime shows as Stellvia, Ranma 1/2 and Love Hina as examples of the anime industry, where the anime studios in Tokyo produces these shows but never returned to finish up the anime, it makes you wonder why they don't just go back and bring those anime shows to a satisfactory conclusion. It just seems that anime studios aren't producing original anime anymore and that everything seems to focus around "anime card game" shows or trying to reinvent older anime shows by rebooting that anime (Negima, Evangelion, etc).
  10. Media Blasters: Official News

The news just keeps getting worse for Media Blasters. Over the past year, the company has lost many licenses, angered Toho Studios over some planned Godzilla DVD and Blu-ray releases not to mention the consideration of letting the company wither away. Well, word has come down from John Sirabella, that while he thought about letting Media Blasters expire, that he had decided to restructure and reform the company. Distressing news for anime fans is that Sirabella has confirmed that Media Blasters no longer has the rights to the Bakuman, Rurouni Kenshin, and Berserk television anime series. he also noted that while Media Blasters had once acquired the rights to Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei and Moyashimon, the company has no plans to release them and noted that "these titles can and may be licensed to another company." Sirabella added that its AnimeWorks, Tokyo Shock, and Kitty Media labels are the only Media Blasters labels that will continue to acquire and publish titles in 2013, and Media Blasters will specifically focus on its Kitty Media label with the company releasing at least one Kitty Media title per month in 2013. Media Blasters will also focus on producing and releasing original productions through Fever Dreams. Update: Media Blasters has also confirmed that it will not be releasing Squid Girl Season 2. 11. While I don't know how this will affect their current anime releases or their previous releases, it appears that Media Blasters is going through some problems that has resulted in their upcoming anime releases being postponed for a later date. Right has stated that new release dates would be forthcoming while Robert's Anime Corner Store has removed their listings from their online store. I'll try to post more information as it becomes available. If anyone discovers any vital information as it relates to Media Blasters, please post it here. Please note that this is being posted because Media Blasters maintains the license for the first season of the Ah! My Goddess anime television series. More Info:
  12. Media Blasters is releasing the Ah My Buddha anime series, known to anime fans as Amaenaideyo!!, as a budget priced collection on October 23rd. 15. Since the release of the second Ah! My Goddess OAD, there has been no word on whether any additional anime projects would be forthcoming. While no information has been released on a schedule for the 44th volume of the tankouban series, do you think that a new anime project is coming our way? While it's been intimated to me that there is a new anime project on the horizon, I've been reluctant about posting anything about it until we get some particulars. However, what form do you think a new anime project would take? We've seen an OVA series, an anime series about the mini goddesses, a major anime motion picture, two anime seasons, a couple of 20th anniversary OVA episodes as well as a pair of OADs (Original Anime DVD). So, what do you think? Is there a new anime series coming down the line? An OVA series? OAD series? Maybe even a new movie? Post your thoughts on this ...
  16. Hi, I used to be into collecting the original Region 2 DVD sets, especially since the packaging and presentation used to be so much better than the Region 1 sets. 18. ANN reports that Crunchyroll and TV Tokyo have filed lawsuits against 13 different YouTube users for illegally distribution of anime episodes between the months of July and September of this year. Pertinent info from the article: Here is the official statement from Crunchyroll about the lawsuits: Sounds like they got serious with these alleged repeat offenders.
  19. The cable movie channel STARZ is evidently making a live-action movie version of the anime Noir. The movie will reportedly premier sometime next summer. This anime was already on my shortlist of shows that I was interested in based on the synopses I had read, so I will probably move it up a notch so I am sure to have watched it before the movie hits Netflix. (I don't have cable and will not be watching it on STARZ itself, but STARZPlay is a major source of the movies on Netflix...) I wonder who will star in it?
  20. Great news all around, the Afro Samurai film has been greenlit and is moving forward with Samuel Jackson. http://www.animekon....-L-Jackson.html
