  6. As any good Aa megamisama fan knows...Belldandy's favourite tea is the Darjeeling tea/brand.... And according to this post in a very very old AMG is the reason why Darjeeling and Bell-chan go together... Darjeeling tea Darjeeling is a brand of black tea grown 2000 meter above sea-level in Northeastern India, near the Tibet border, in a stable and good climate. Here are some comments I got when discussing the tea brand with the Megami ML's own resident High Elf, Chadwick Ngan: "By the way, you should try some Darjeeling tea if you have the opportunity. It's not an overwhelmingly fragrant tea, like Jasmine. Rather, it's fragrancy is a lot more subtle. I like Fujishima's selection of tea brand. It reflects Belldandy's preference of tasteful inner personae over exterior appearance far better than pages of drawings could have done." This website here gives more detail.... Darjeeling is frequently called the "Champagne of teas," with musky-sweet tasting notes similar to muscat wine. But it can also have delicate vegetal, mossy, fruity, and citrus flavors. Though Darjeeling is an Indian-grown tea (from, you got it, Darjeeling), the leaves are actually Chinese. "Most tea plants in Darjeeling are of the smaller leaf Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, rather than the larger leaf var. assamica, more commonly grown throughout the rest of India," explains Jim Schreiber, a tea and beverage operations manager. "While classified as a black tea, Darjeeling teas are almost always less oxidized than a typical black tea," says Schreiber. The unique flavor of Darjeeling comes from Chinese tea genetics mixing with Indian terroir—plus the intricacies of harvesting and processing. It's lighter and less astringent than most black tea, but more layered and complex than most greens. The same Darjeeling tea from the same plantation will taste different depending on when it's harvested. These periodic harvests, called flushes, span the tea growing season, punctuated by the regular high mountain rains. From the first to the last harvest, the general flavor trend is light and delicate to robust and full-bodied. The second flush from the more mature plant is where the big wine-like flavors come out, but the highly prized first flush, which uses the very youngest leaves, is where you can find some really interesting, delicate, and smooth arboreal-minty-fresh mountain air flavors. And Darjeeling tea happens to have some health benefits too....according to this is good for your heart, your bones, lowers cholesterol, and has good anti-oxidant properties.But... The tea also contains caffeine, generally about one-half the amount in a cup of coffee, or 40 to 70 milligrams in an 8-ounce serving, depending on the strength of the tea. For some people, too much caffeine can make sleeping difficult, cause feelings of nervousness or increase heart rate. Limit your intake of caffeine if you're pregnant or breast-feeding, or opt for decaffeinated versions of Darjeeling tea. Adding milk to your tea might also reduce its effectiveness of its antioxidant compounds, according to current research. (Ouch). Darjeeling tea comes in three main flavours...divided into what time of the year they are picked.,..the first flush(tea from the leaves that sprout after winter), the second flush (or the muscatel-flavoured flush, from leaves plucked in the summer) and the autumn flush...from the leaves plucked in October after the monsoon has passed...and described by tea coinosseurs as... (having) a delicate yet sparkling character with a delightful flavor, distinct from both first flush and second flush with a round cup Yet sadly, it is only the first and second flush leaves that get exported....the third flush leaves don't see much in the way of export.(No export for them).(This site has more info) So....where to buy this tea... Well, if you are a tea man or lady (sadly I am not...sigh) can buy tea (in North America) online from Upton tea or Smith Teamaker or (in India) Chai and mighty....or the World's best teashop at Mariege Freres in Paris. For those in Japan..this guide might help And this is just a brief intro to Darjeeling tea....a goddess' favourite tipple.
